After having Tom (the owner) come out to give me an estimate I decided to proceed with them for my roof project. and gave over a $3550 deposit. Unfortunately that was the best part of our interaction. He was not able to meet the minimum requirements to do work in my village (elmwood park). Tom then asked if I wanted to pay for his insurance increase for him to perform the work ($4k). Of course my answer was no and he then said I would get a refund. After a week of waiting patiently, I called to ask where the refund was and Toms reply was "I have been busy and just didnt get to it". I then asked him when can I expect it - his reply was, "i will put it in the mail and if you don't get it I will hand deliver"... Once again I waited patiently. I did receive a check in the next couple days - however It was short $150. I then asked why it was short and he said "it should be short $100 not $150". I asked why and he said it was due to a license he had to get. Then I corrected him and said that he didn't get any licenses and it should be a full refund. He then said "OH so my time and leg work is not worth anything?" .... To which I replied that if there was a charge for something like this it should have been in the contract- which its not. This was over a week ago and I have yet to hear back from him. So, Bottom line is - I hired him, paid for services, he could not meet insurance requirements, asked for refund and he decided to keep $150 that he didn't do anything for. STAY AWAY or at the very least get EVERYTHING in writing as this guy is a LIAR! For Home Advisor, I have all documentation and proof of this interaction and would be happy to provide these items in order to help avoid this trap for your other clients. UPDATE... After this review posted I received a call from Tom thanking me for the review and that if I would have waited a couple days I would have had a check for $100 in my mailbox. Even though I did not believe him I gave the benefit of the doubt and waited for any refund that may come for 4 days. This conversation was all very sarcastic (him thanking me). I then asked why only $100 and not the $150 im owed. To which he replied by raising his voice and ending the conversation. Only to call back about 30 minutes later to try and negotiate. Saying if I removed my post he would refund me the whole $150. I was willing to to this. Then he started spinning the conversation by saying the only real way to edit the post would be for him to reply to the post saying he did get a license and that was what the fee was for. I told him NO. I would be happy to edit the original post and say that he made things right in the end. He was not happy with that and got heated again. So i told him he must need that $150 more than me so keep it and I will make sure to post this review in as many places I could. He was especially offended by the statement that he was not able to meet minimum standards to complete the project. BE WARNED - DO NOT USE THIS GUYS SERVICES!

I had the roof and siding done with this company last summer and 2 month later i had leak . Tom and his. worker came today and they fixed the issues I hope No more leak when it snow again
