John Criner worked on our roof twice. The roof started leaking shortly after we purchased the house and the house was only 8 years old. The leak seemed to be directly by the one roof vent. John went up and inspected the roof and saw no obvious problem with the roof. He put some extra sealant around the vent and charged me nothing. It seemed fine for a year or so and then started leaking again. He said the only thing to do would be to take out the roof vent and see what the problem was. The vent had a large crack which was hidden by the shingles on top of it. He replaced the vent and put on new shingles around it. Total cost was 300 bucks, which is very reasonable. This was several years ago and there has been no leaking since. I felt compelled to post this because of poor reviews on this site. I would hire him again for any roofing needs.

Communication is terrible. It's very hard to get a call back from them-- you have to leave message after message. And when you do speak to someone, they tell you they went out to look at the house, but then never called to tell you what they found. I'm not altogether sure about the work--runoff water going under the siding, but that may not be their fault? ADDENDUM: three months later and they still won't return my calls. Wanda, who answers the phone, gives lip service but never a response from Mr. Criner or Mike.

I had John Criner do my roof on my beach box several years ago. From the start, two of the vent pipes leaked. He sent someone over and caulked them. I continued to caulk them for the next five or six years. About five years ago I called them to have them come over and fix it. I paid them to replace the two boots. Their worker told me the boots had not been installed properly. We had a storm yesterday and I lost about a 32" by 72" section of shingles. When I removed some of the damaged shingles from the roof I found that the plastic strip covering the tar adhesive on the shingles had not been removed. No wonder the shingles blew off! I am replacing the shingles myself and John Criner will NOT be doing my next roof.

Very unprofessional! John Criner did such poor work at my mom's house she had to pay to get someone else to fix John Criner's work. Criner was paid to put flooring and tile in a room and when Criner was finished the flooring looked terrible. The wood floor was not installed correctly. There were parts of the wood floor that were bulging up and one strip that was completely missing. The tile work was very crooked and uneven. Criner refused to fix his work thus my mom had to hire a second contractor to fix it. Save your money! Avoid John Criner

This company never finished the job they were hired for, left a big mess of garbage I had to clean up. I will never use them again.
