Didn't start well, 2 week delayed start date. Only came because we threatened to cancel and go elsewhere. This is obviously why he asks for a 10% deposit upfront to secure him to do the work. We negotiated it to 5%. He does the majority of work, and has a labourer, who through his own admission, can't hammer a nail in straight. Lovely, lovely gentlemen though. There's also another chap, who only carries out work that Mark tells him to. He employs a plasterer, who is excellent, and an electrician 🤙. Mark attempts everything else himself. He is obviously a Jack of trades but not a master of any and though the work he carried out, in the main, was to a good standard, its certainly not to the high standards he prides himself for. Each night I would run a safety check because they were oblivious to the fact we have young children. I had to ask them not to leave drills, saws etc directly in the path of the fridge. Pipework was left protruding from the walls (trip hazard), electric light and wall sockets wired in but left hanging off the walls and the nail in the coffin was when I discovered a stanley knife and a loose blade left next to the front door on a window ledge. His organisation skills are woeful, as such, he spends a great deal of time flitting out for up to an hour at a time fetching supplies. Leaving his two workman with nothing to do. One day I recorded him missing for a total of 2.5 hours. When challenged about the lack of progress, he was very defensive and had the ordacity to telk me that we were getting a good deal (shut it in other words). I can assure you the price he charged was average. We're happy with our rennovation but that is more to do with our design layout rather than his workmanship. There are things that we will have to put right, including a snagging list, because we just dont want him back and couldn't wait for him to go. What he quoted as a 2-3 week project turned into 6.5 awful weeks. We wouldn't recommend nor use MAF roofing and building again.
