I purchased a home that was in need of a roof replacement, and during the repair negotiations, the seller agreed to replace the roof and choose Nick and Northern Roof Systems, who I believed were recommended by my realtors. I was very happy that he was chosen, based on the reviews of his choice of shingles (Malarkey Highlander) and the thoroughness of his bid proposal. After waiting several weeks to close, I finally took ownership on May 17. During a move-in yesterday (May 21), I noticed a small, but noticeable drip of water coming through a lighting fixture in the dining room. I called Nick the very first thing the next morning. He answered immediately (6:45 a.m.!) and I told him what I was seeing. He planned to meet me later that morning, after finishing work with another client. His initial suspicion was possible plumbing issue or burst pipe -- related to my baseboard heating system. After determining that something with the roof was the most likely culprit, Nick and his partner were on the roof and quickly identified a possible issue that occurred during the install. A slight misalignment of the vent hood for the kitchen. They re-caulked and secured the hood correctly. The whole thing took less than 30 minutes. As a brand-new first-time home-owner, I was a feeling a little anxiety about the leak, especially after spending thousands of dollars over the weekend on carpet, windows and a washer and dryer...and not knowing what to expect when Nick came over. He was extremely courteous, professional, and overall, he was a great pleasure to have around. Nick stands by his work and said that I should contact him again if this issue or any other issue related to the roof appears. Nick replaced our roof at our triplex in March. He worked with us getting snow and ice off as the previous roof didn’t have any insulation. Throughout the entire job, Nick communicated about what repairs to the tongue and groove needed to be done and worked with our contractor in a timely matter to get it completed. Since weather was a factor, the days he was unable to work, Nick still came out to the property to ensure that the roof was covered up and protected.
