My experience with PW Roofing was pretty good. Jake came out in the rain and completed an estimate for a new roof. Workers arrived at estimated time and completed the roof in a day. My only complaints are the following: Clean up (ended up replacing a truck tire due to roofing nails left) and my back porch roof was not replaced.
I just discovered a leak in my relatively new (5 yrs) roof. Probably related to Florence but likely to small to go to USAA over. I called several, highly rated Fayetteville roofers. The response was 4-6 weeks before we could even look at it. I Called PW roofing at 2:39PM today.....3 Hours later I have an appointment for 11 am on Saturday 17 November!........What great customer service. The person I first called was one of the owners. He said he would have one of his guys call me....and they did! When I talked with the guy coming out, he said the company had 120 roofs in the works because of Florence. They still got to me immediately! How rare! I will update this review after Saturday....
At first our experience was pretty great. We needed an entire new roof. The contractor was very helpful and insurance covered most of the job. I think everything was completed (start to finish) within two weeks. It looked great looking at it from the ground. No one came to reinspect the job to make sure the work was completed properly. So I really didn’t know what to do with the deductible payment. I figured someone would come look at the work and it would be released to the contractor at that time. A few weeks passed and my husband started getting requests for the payment to be sent in the mail. We complied. Fast forward a few more weeks and Hurricane Florence hits. I begin seeing discoloration on our ceiling and wood floors near the baseboards in our dining room. I also notice the same in the living room. All occurrences appear to be bordering the chimney/fireplace. I went outside and began to look a bit more closely at the roof. I notice that there are areas that are gaping around the chimney. There isn’t any flashing. So the water has come in through the gaps and traveled down the walls and absorbing into the floors (which are now ruined. They have to be replaced). I took photos of the missing flashing and damage caused. After my discovery, my husband contacted PW. After a couple of attempts we received a response. The contractor came to our house and looked over the damage. He told us that he would have the flashing installed in a month because they were backed up. Well it should have already been done when they installed the roof! Well they never showed. We have made several attempts to contact with no success and no returned calls. My husband has been in contact with a lawyer by this point since insurance says they can not help us with this situation because NC does not require insurance providers to do a follow up inspection and our claim is closed. Around the time the flashing was supposed to be getting put up, new tenants started living in our house. WASPS!!! That is right. Wasps have taken shelter in our rafters. In one day I killed more than 16 wasps a few in my children’s room. Again, we tried contacting PW to no avail. It is now January. We still have water coming in the house from around the chimney. There is what appears to be mold peeking through the paint on the wall, my floorboards are warped where they meet the walls, still, wasps are seen coming from the fixture which the ceiling fan hangs, redecorating and painting of our walls has been put on hold for months, and the leaking has now begun to drip inside the house near electrical outlets that were being used. I unplugged the appliances this morning. (The rain we are currently having has enlightened us to this new issue.) Husband called again today. Again, no answer and no response. PW should be held accountable for all of the new damage that was subsequently caused due to poor installation and flagrant disregard for the safety of their customers and their families, and just plain old poor customer service. I could lose my house and pets if the leaks spark an electrical fire while we are not home and much more if we are home and can’t get out in time. They don’t seem to care or understand the severity of this situation. I will be calling again tomorrow and will personally drive to their location in Fayetteville to get this resolved. If not we will be hiring a lawyer and suing. Not something I want to do, but the damage is ruining our house.
Hurricane Florence left her mark on several areas of our property leaving our detached garage with shingles blown off of it and possible roof damage. So, I contacted Jake Pfeffer with PW Roofing and he came out to look at it and another neighbors. He has been really helpful in giving me honest advice and answering so many questions about the damage, insurance, my costs and helped me the information I needed before filing my claim. (He will also let you know if filing a claim isn’t in your best interest if you need help with that too). I’m so thankful we are able to have his assistance. My neighbors are also thoroughly impressed with his customer service and knowledge. The estimate was free, including him walking me through my concerns and answering dozens of questions. Be careful of scammers during this vulnerable time and choose a reliable and honest comany like PW Roofing. Jake is an asset to anyone with roof damage/concerns!
Jake came out within a day of contacting him through Thumbtack. We scheduled him that week to fix a flashing that was leading to a leak in our house. He said they were already on jobs that week and would have to fit us in between those jobs. That was fine. The week came and went and they never showed up. Jake said the jobs took longer than expected and they would be out next week to fix it. I asked for a scheduled appointment at this time to ensure they would show up and he never responded. On Wednesday we still hadn't seen or heard from him. My husband left him a message that the roof needed to be fixed by Friday because rain was coming over the weekend or we were going to hire someone else. He texted me and said the roofer would be there Saturday morning. I texted him Saturday morning and asked what time they would be there because it was 9 am and I still hadn't seen or heard from anyone., He texted back and said they had a roof open that they had to close before the rain came. My roof is leaking into the house but everyone else's roofs continue to take precedent, in addition you started this job after you had been telling me for over a week that you would fix my roof. He said they would for sure be out Monday. Well yesterday came and went without contact or my roof being fixed. When I texted Jake and said don't bother ever coming, I'll hire someone else, he didn't he respond. Extremely unprofessional. Every time my husband would call him he wouldn't answer the phone call and then he would text me. Clearly, he knew he was in the wrong and couldn't man up and take a phone call. I originally chose PW Roofing because I like to support veteran owned businesses in Fayetteville but Jake gives the company a bad name. In response to the owner, I was told the only roofs that were ahead of us were the ones on the week on 7/9/18 and that once those were done ours would be done and/or done in between those jobs. There was no mention of the jobs that were starting the week of 7/16 in any communication between Jake and myself and my husband. I have all the text messages if you would like to see them. As for your snarky "we can not control the weather excuse" the past few days (7/21-7/24) is the first it has rained pretty much all month aside from a small pop up shower, also all it takes is a simple text from Jake saying, "hey inclement weather, have to reschedule" but that never happen. We only got a response from him when we asked where he was on days he told us he would be at our house. There was no preemptive attempt of communication from him. I understand other people's roofs leak, that is why I specifically asked for a schedule appointment after the first week went by so that I knew which order I would be seen, even if things shifted due to rain. I also made no comment about payment so I am not sure what you're referring to. I would not have paid in advance, plans were to pay after the service was provided. I understand that all I got done was the estimate from Jake with him saying that he could and would do the work.
