We had an entire roof replaced by Excel on our 75 year old, multi-gabled Tudor with designer GAF shake shingles. It looks fantastic--one of the best roofs in the neighborhood. Excel roofing did a superb job. removed the existing roof, removed all debris, and completed installation in a few days. They protected plants with sloping tarps from the roof, so nothing was damaged by dropping shingles. They gave us a range of choices, and we went with a higher end, 50-yr shingle and 25 year workmanship warranty. Unlike other companies they gave us a written appraisal and contract. Cannot praise the work the installers did highly enough. They answered every concern, were courteous, and completely up front on all costs and issues. Would hire them again in a flash, but don't anticipate needing to!

I had numerous referrals for Excel Roofing and they were all correct. Great job! Excellent work and kept the job site very clean each day. My roof was more than 20 years old and in need of replacement. Thanks Excel for making me feel secure once again. I highly recommend talking with Excel about your roof project. Their detailed estimates are another bonus.

We bought our home three weeks after Excel Roofing completed a new roof. Sounds great right... Read on for the cautionary tale of of how Excel "cares for their customers" It all started when I spoke to Chelsie at Excel, she accepted & acknowledged the warranty change of ownership over the phone. They came out to inspect and began repairs but ceased repairs and left us with an expensive, wet, leaky roof. My best advice after 13 years in Wilmington, don't even think about calling this company unless you have unlimited patience, time, money or you are a lawyer. They are the worlds greatest company for overpromising and under delivering (actually not delivering at all). But if you do decide to call here are a few tips 1. Do not believe a word they say, get it in writing, document every interaction, record every phone call. 2.They actually don't accept warranty claims unless they are in writing, so get your certified mail ready. Read the warranty fine print for all the ways and reasons they will not fix your roof. 3. Get some buckets for your “new” leaky roof 4. Pray for a nice insurance adjuster when water infiltrates your home. 5. Make sure you like calling them, over and over and over and over again without a call back. “Warranty” ”(I use that word VERY generously because it doesn’t actually cover anything) is a joke. After over 50 phone calls, they came to fix the three year old roof they installed and the photos below show how they left it. We are reasonable, patient people who have tried everything we can to just have them finish the job they started but I guess that's asking too much. There are great honest, trustworthy roofers in this town, unfortunatly Excel Roofing is just not one of them.

This is a mixed review. My wife and I had two houses needing roof replacement after Florence. I was very satisfied with the quality and promptness of the work done with the exception of the cleanup afterwards. I didn't expect every nail to be picked up, but they definitely could have done a better job picking up the trash at the end of the jobs. My real disappointment is how Excel handled an error on one of the job estimates. Per the office manager, their estimator miscalculated the amount of plywood needed. We paid up front, in full, over $20,000 to have our roofs replaced. When both jobs were complete, we received an $80 bill for one sheet of plywood. After almost two months of back and forth (because they ignored numerous emails, phone calls and messages) over an error on their part, the situation has finally been resolved. They essentially held my roof warranty information hostage until I gave them their $80. I want to give Excel a 4.5 star rating for the quality of the work performed, but they only get one star for how they handled the rest of the transaction.

After hurricane florence, we contacted several local roofers. Excel was the only one who gave us good customer service and a new roof within 2 weeks. Our roof looks perfect - the color choice with the help of Eric compliments our siding and shutters. Eric was even on the roof with the crew several times to check their work.
