These guys do not set expectations up front about what you as the customer will be paying for their service. These guys installed the gutters for our home through our builder 2.5 years ago. I was having some issues with certain areas of the system and I called them to see if they could come take a look. They told me it was out of warranty and I said ok no problem. So far no charges were expressed to me(especially a trip charge). The owner came out and told me there was no kick out flashing installed in one section of where the roof meets the gutter in a corner and he said there was nothing he could do about that. Also he said he'd come back and take care of two other spots where the water was getting behind the gutter by extending the down spouts that went onto the roof. From what I thought, this he would do, free of charge because there were still no charges expressed to me. Then the following week the techs came out to do the small fixes to the downspouts. When they arrived I asked them when they were up on the ladder if they can just take a look at that missing kick out flashing again just to see if that was the true issue. The lead tech knocked on my door later and said to me. "Hey I'm going to save you a bunch of money". There was kick out flashing installed but I found two tennis balls and some debris in that gutter and I also re pitched it to flow better. He didn't come down off the ladder and say hey, I found your potential issue there, its not the kick out flashing its this issue instead and this will cost you 135 dollars to fix. He just took it upon himself to do that quick and from what I thought again was free of charge and it was just being nice. The whole job literally took them about 15-20 mins and I thought wow these guys are great for doing this stuff for me for free and out of warranty. Then I received a bill for 135 dollars and it was itemized as 135 dollars to clean out the debris in the gutter and the other two minor fixes free of charge. They do good work, it just would have been nice to know up front all the charges I would have to incur. When I called about it and expressed my dissatisfaction with how the expectations were set of what I would have to pay, they told me that the 135 was basically a trip charge which was also never expressed to me that I would be paying for. Even though on the bill it was itemized as cleaning out that gutter. I could have just bought an extension ladder for that price and fixed everything myself had I been told it would have cost me 135 dollars.
