Called Beckers in December of last year. They sent out a man to come and check out the roof and he said the company would get in touch with us in about three weeks with an estimate. Months later and several phone calls later, no estimate. The woman I spoke to who answered the phone for the company said they won't send an estimate until two weeks before they are ready to do the work. Then why send someone out in the first place in DECEMBER? It is now June, six months later. No estimate. We found someone else to do our roofing project this summer.

Very happy with this company! We had our new roof installed in October and couldn’t be happier. We had several friends and relatives that have used them in the past so we knew this was the best company locally. We plan to have siding done by them in the spring! Can’t wait, our home already looks so great with the new roof the siding will make it look even better!

So after 2.5 months of rescheduling us to have our roof put on they finally send a group of sub contractors over to do the roof. Now mind you I've called them and called them and expressed that our house has it's own atmosphere and when it rains outside it rains just as bad inside. They didn't care and just kept putting us off. So they show up with everything they need to do the flat rubber roof first (epdm rubber, black fiberboard, seam tape, glue, drip edge) except for sheeting and screws and plates. So they go get the new sheeting to lay down and they get 7/16 osb. Now ive been a contractor for 21 yrs and im still doing it so i know what can and connot be used or they way its being used. I also forgot to mention that our roof completely blew off the house and was cut in several pieces and layed back down and covered with tarps as an emergency repair. Any person or contractor should know that a heavy damaged roof should be completely torn off, resheeted and the new fiberboard and epdm rubber and the trim. What do they do? They completely cover over the old, busted up, uneven roof with the new 7/16 osb then I see them loading the black fiberboard into the truck. Ummm? So I ask what they are doing and they said they put the osb down and are going to glue the new epdm rubber to that and there's no need for the fiberboard. Now forgive me if I am wrong(Which I'm not) but you cannot put epdm over 7/16. Epdm rubber needs a minimum of 5/8 osb or plywood to lay epdm down without fiber board. If using 7/16 then fiber board is needed. So after a long debate between the crew and a few other Becker workers that had showed up and Mr. Becker himself on the phone they lay the fiberboard down per my request. Now if if it wasn't needed and I was wrong then why did they go ahead and lay it down? Seems they were caught trying to cheap out and were caught. So back to the flat roof a little more. Theres pieces of excess rubber flapping down past the dripedge, all of the drip edge is extremely wavy and on the right side of the house the roof is sticking out about 2 to 2.5 inches away from the flashing so the flashing can no longer meet the drip edge which means they layed the boards down and did not trim off the excess for a flush fit. Which will leak eventually and allow bees and whatever else into the side of my house. On to the gable roof. The shingles were done very nicely so I ha e argument there but again the finishing work lacks in ways of a rookie or a hack! The drip edge again is extremely wavy and does not meet up to the flashing in areas again allowing the elements in. In the right side of the house again there's flashing that was not damage by the storm(in fact none of my flashing was damage) but had been torn off by the crew and never replaced so now there's a huge opening allowing rain and whatever else to go down the wall. They left debris all over my property the neighbors property and just did an absolute horrible clean up! Then they left the trailer here for days and they left the extra materials sitting in my walk way so i had to move them and put them behind the gate of my entry way privacy fence. So this morning around 10am I called over to Becker again because one of there drivers was here to pick up the trailer with the left over materials and debris. Jamie their receptionist answers and I ask if possibly they crew was coming back to do any detail work. And she says not to her knowledge but if there is a problem she would like to hear it. So I explain everything and she says she does not believe me and scoffs and laughs at me. Tells me I don't know what what I'm talking about and that they are a licensed construction company so they know what they are doing! So I tell her that the guys they sent over are a bunch if hacks and it needs to be done right. I can hear her writing as I am explaining what wasn't finished and what wasn't right and she tells me she will send someone over to look and see if it's done to manufacturers specs. I attaching pictures to this so please feel free to take a look.

Company left much debris with adjoining neighbor, which they did not clean up. I also removed debris from my roof (over 30 nails). Satellite cables were pulled from clamps and not replaced. They also pulled up all of my adjoining flashing to replace neighbors roof, which they did not secure upon job completion. Many calls have not been heeded despite promises to rectify their damage.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! They cost me a lot of time and thousands of dollars in repairs. The job was DEFINITELY NOT done right the first time. If you use them, you WILL have issues and they won’t respond. Here is a run down of all of the problems I had with them: -The shingles they installed were popped up and exposed the plywood decking underneath near my chimney -The gutters were cut too short, water would drip right off the shingles and down towards the ground (near my foundation) -They left a whole cartridge of roofing nails lying in my yard (sharp side up) in the area where my dogs play -Breached our contract by not using a magnetic sweep to clean up the nails. I’ve found 100+ so far and one found it’s way into my car tire, now I need a new tire -They tore a whole in my window screen -I caught workers walking on top of my deck railing, this material is not meant to hold that type of weight -They didn’t replace my drip edge (per contract they were supposed to) -They put 2 different sized flashing on my home -They used the wrong elbow joints and had to smash the pieces together to make them fit -The gutters were off-pitch and off-tilt -They installed gutter hangers on top of my shingles. My previous roof had the hangers installed under the shingles and never leaked for 25+ years. They lied to me saying that the hangers had to be on top of the shingle b/c having them under would cause leak risk. Not true as my old roof never leaked and the inspector + other roofing contractors told me that installing on top of the shingles was the lazy thing to do -They left 160ft of gutter sitting in my yard for 2 weeks. I had to email them several times to get them to come out and finish the job. -The downspouts looked like a 5 year old cut them, complete with a big wad of silicone to prevent leakage -They were going to order me non-venting skylights to replace my VENTING skylights. Luckily, I caught this in the contract, but who on Earth replaces something with a non-comparable item? Also, I later found out that you can order the skylights with blinds pre-installed, I was not given this option and it would’ve saved me a whole lot of hassle -There was a gap in the flashing on the one corner of my home, exposing the decking underneath -I tried for 3 MONTHS to get someone out to look at these issues. But they already had my money so they didn’t care. I was told for 2 months that a family emergency prevented them from coming out. Finally, I hired a certified roofing inspector to draw up a report. I submitted this to Becker’s and gave them 2 weeks to make the needed repairs. Mind you, this all started in August, this was now October and the deadline was November. I was NOT about to sit all winter with my roof exposed. They had the audacity to sit on that information for 11 days, not so much as a phone call. They emailed me 11 days later with no offer of an appointment. Needless to say the missed the deadline. I ended up taking them to small claims court and the owner calls me less than 24 hours before the hearing offering me basically half of what I was asking for. This was an admission of fault on their part. This whole process was VERY stressful for me. And all could’ve been avoided if they would’ve just come out to my home. IF you want an expensive lesson on roofs, hire Becker’s. If you want the job done right, find someone else! I’ve learned more about roofing/gutters/downspouts than I ever cared to.
