Horrible experience. Made an appointment to get an estimate. I work nights so 10am is hard on me but I was up and ready. Standing on my porch 10am sharp no one comes. Called at 11:30 got voice mail. My boyfriend called got voice mail. After I get home from work late I see a card no note on my door. I called there office left another voicemail to ask what happened. I get a call today at 1:05 pm the first man says there was no appointment scheduled for me I was confused because they left a card. Then he asks my boyfriend's name I gave it then another man gets on the phone and tells me off Claimes was there at 10am sharp. That could not be possible I was standing on my porch at that time I tell him. He yells at me saying I'm calling him a liar. Totally not professional at all. I was about to ask why he never called at all? But he proceeded to then say we don't need to do business with you and hung up on me. People I'm telling the truth here. You cannot trust a company who makes such mistakes and treats others this way. I've already gotten two other estimates. They called to confirm just before and showed up on time. They were polite and professional. In today's world we need to stick together and honestly help each other out it's how I feel about these ratings. This company doesn't have a lot of reviews don't just trust the 5. check them out in more then one site see how many reviews they got the more the better. Needless to say for me I don't want this to be a bad experience finding a good roofing company. From now on I'll only pick company's with many reviews. No one is perfect but treating potential customers so poorly is not who I want working on my roof. I'm guessing the same would be said for anyone else. Fyi as of now this company has 6 reviews and besides mine it's been two years since the last. Told my boyfriend I think we can check better from now on. 😆

So it was 32 years ago that I last replaced the roof on my house and I decided to NOT wait until I had a roof leak to do it. The way I proceeded was to ask friends and colleagues who recently had their roof replaced for referrals. (No sense wasting time calling for estimates from companies that advertise on TV if no one I know has used them). I narrowed it down to three companies that got positive comments and asked for estimates. Interestingly, Shaw Roofing's name came up more than once from different people whose opinions I respect. I went thru meeting with the estimators, hearing their sales pitches and putting the bids side-by-side. One was clearly a low-ball estimate that was so much below the other two that it made me uncomfortable. I figured given the importance of a roof and the fact I am planning on living here another 30 years, paying more for quality was a worth-while investment. As a side-note, I watched my office manager go through getting a new roof two years ago with a company I will not name and her experience was hellish. I learned some critical things to avoid when it came time for my re-roofing. Here is my findings and why I picked Shaw Roofing: - the crews they use had been with them for years; that told me they treat their workers fairly and they truly seemed happy (this is hot, hard work and they were impressive) - I asked if I should upgrade my single pick and rather than upselling me, they asked good questions about how long I would live in the house, what I wanted in the roof 'look', etc. Abe the owner recommended I stick with their basic recommendation (which was a lot less $$). I appreciated that honesty. - After they stripped off the old shingles, we discovered I did not have plywood underneath - and that was an unexpected surprise and expense. But Jay my estimator called, told me the bad news and here is the silver lining - they included up-front in the quote the square foot cost IF replacement was necessary. I looked at the other two companies bids and determined they would have added a lot more than Shaw! In summary, my experience with Shaw was great in every respect. They were beyond professional, their crews did a fantastic job keeping my place clean during the removal process (I have three dogs and don't need old roofing nails laying about) and at the completion. They even came back to do a walk around with me and make sure I was satisfied. The bottom-line for me was quality of work, quality of their installers and the quality of the roofing product they use. The fact that you get to talk directly to the owner was also a plus and ease of communication with Jay the estimator made it even better. I could have gotten the roof replaced by a cheaper bid but when I factor in how smoothly it went and how good the clean-up was, Shaw was worth every penny. Jerry

In the process of selling my home we discovered we needed a new roof. In a time crunch, I called several companies, many didn't return my call or even stood us up. Jay was incredibly responsive and understood our situation and worked with us from beginning to end. Excellent communication and customer service. Jay's employees were just as friendly and hard working as Jay. I will always refer Shaw Roofing and will call them for any future issues in my new home.

Shaw Roofing tore off three layers of old shingles (including old cedar shakes) on our historic home that was built in 1890. We selected Shaw Roofing because they are very experienced with old homes and with doing complete tear-offs (especially in the Avenues). Benefits of working with Shaw 1. Their bid was VERY competitive (it was the second lowest bid that we received from 6 different roofers). 2. The entire process, start to finish, required 3.5 days - we were very pleased with how quickly the crew worked and that the process was not extended. 3. The crew did not damage our plants - this was an amazing feat given that our yard is completely xeriscaped! 4. The crew quickly problem solved issues they encountered when they tore off the old roof (some molding that was rotten and needed to be replaced and some of the chimneys required some patching) 5. Most importantly, when we encountered an electrical issues that was associated with the removal of an old fan in the attic, they resolved it VERY quickly. Abe came out to inspect the issue and called an electrician who was able to quickly diagnose and solve the problem. We really appreciated that. The new roof looks beautiful! In short, we are VERY happy with our experience with Shaw Roofing and would highly recommend them.

Loved working with Abe and Glade, and their AMAZING team! These guys worked so hard, yet effeciently. Most impressive was their ability to do things on the 'fly'...they didn't get flustered when we changed direction or added an extra task. Always thorough with their clean up each day, and very careful work on our very old home. I'd recommend them to anyone.
