This is the second time I’ve contracted State Roofing and did not disappoint. Late last year I had a metal standing seam roof installed on my home and recently decided to add a pellet stove that required a vent through the roof. I gave State Roofing a call to set up an appointment. Jimmy and Julian were assigned to the task and they were professional, and courteous. They even offered to paint the stove pipe black so it would match the roof. The job was done quickly and looked fantastic.
My husband worked for this company for a short amount of time. He was hired as a foreman and to be promoted to a manager. In the amount of time he was there his check was shorted hours or "piece work" three different times. The first time, it was corrected after being given the run around by them. The company got out of paying overtime by doing their piece work (which half the time they didn't pay). When made aware of the missing hours from 2.5 weeks ago he was told it would be corrected the following week. When the week came and went and it came time for a new paycheck not only was the missing hours not on his check but he was shorted more than double his piece work which should have been paid to him. Once again, he brought it to their attention and he was told by the manager he didn't understand their break down and they would discuss it on Monday. Yesterday when he went in he was called names by the owner and told to deal with his lack of payment. The owner said not only would they not be paying his owed wages, he is going to have a hard time proving they owe him any more money. He had asked numerous times for the break down of the piece work and the only time he received one was last Friday (2/22) and going by their breakdown, what he was paid was severely wrong. I have a background in roofing as well and judging by pictures that I have seen and some of the horror stories I have heard, ANYONE who has had a job done by State Roofing, I STRONGLY urge you to have a roof inspection done by a licensed and bonded company. Please stress the fact that they need to check the underlayment as well as the starter course. You will save yourself a HUGE headache if you do.
Not sure about workmanship because we never made it past their sales person, Bill Gray, who practices high pressure sales tactics and likes to belittle potential customers. I’m not a fan of people treating me poorly while simultaneously asking me to pay ridiculously high roofing prices.
