Had our roofs done three years now, house plus garage and extension which was done in fibreglass. We were pleased with the work, although the cost went up considerably on the garage roof! We found the workmen to be very efficient and friendly. However as soon as we paid they were not interested in coming back, even to clear up rubbish as promised, after many more texts and emails they came out. We then developed a problem with the guttering, we managed to get it sorted, thanks to Bobbies wife, who was by then in the office working and very helpful. We now have a leak in our garage roof, which sold to us as the best flat roofing! Plus another problem with guttering. Spoke to' Mark' last week who promised a call back early this week, text again yesterday but still nothing. Clearly the office staff they have are not as good as their workmen or Bobbies wife! It appears that the 25 year guarantee on all work is worthless, plus the hype around fibreglass roofing debateable. May have no alternative that to go down the mis-sold route! Shame they let themselves down.
Fine until paid. But then just promises. Proved impossible to get rectification work done
After several(plus) attempts with other higher listed roofers in the area I was beginning to despair at how many illusive roofers, belonging to companies with vapour-like backgrounds. Years ago we were severely ripped off by roofers who cost us many thousands to correct and I was determined that this was not going to happen again when a roof leak appeared. When I found Bob and his family business however I found they were 'solid', 'professional' and attended to the important details. Although hard at first to pin down due to how busy they were, as soon as the job was communicated as urgent they shifted around their schedule to ensure I didn't suffer any damage. A large dormer rubber roof (for a 60's house) and re-felt under the tiles was done within three days, one for erecting all the scaffolding ready, the other where a whole day was spent by Bob, son and substantial team worked throughout, and the final morning (through mostly pouring rain!) the scaffolding taken away. The scaffolding and roofing teams were all friendly, pleasant, professional and focused on their work. The contract throughout was explained, with photos and videos where necessary, by Bob, to get the job done within budget and explore alternatives when they were needed. Everything was cleaned after and spotless with the roof looking as new. They have been doing this a long time and I will certainly keep their number on my phone for a long long time to come, for myself and recommending to others. I am just happy that I never have to waste days wading through all the other adverts and checks ever again for that job.
Had a leak on my flat roof extension after putting a new kitchen in. Had 3 quotes, Bobby talked me through what was needed and was very reasonable in price. As it was urgent, he managed to move his schedule around to be able to accommodate the week. Team led by Steve was great, very hard working and very pleasant. Job was finished last Friday, looking good, all rubbish taken away including wiping the garden furniture down from the saw dust. Would use them again.
Would recommend R Richards & Son. They undertook the roof part of my extension (Autumn 2016) to a high standard, this included both tiles and rubber sections. I then extended the contract to include fascias and guttering as they were efficient and the most competitive. They offered sound advice at some key juncture points of the project that worked better and proved more economical. I will definitely use this company when I come to re-roof my garage next year.
