After my felt roof had begun letting rainwater leak into my ceiling, it was time to find a roofer who I felt I could trust. I found KG Installations from seeing the van parked locally. The information on the van was helpful in engaging me. Having not had a roof replaced/repaired before I needed someone who was going to treat me with honesty and offer sound advice. My first experience was with KG Installation's telephone answering machine: professional, courteous sounding. It began to feel like these were the right people. My sense of making the right choice was further strengthened when I met Guy. He brought round a small demonstration on how the roof would be created, a brochure and a DVD. It felt a little overwhelming to hear of all the possible ways that the roof might have to be prepared (including possibly informing the local council) ... but Guy knows his stuff, has done this work before, and was prepared to take charge of all that needed doing. After he had inspected the existing roof many of the possibilities fell away leaving a straight forward approach: laying the new roof on top of the old felt one. A price was agreed and the work began before the week was over. Guy and his colleague took two days to lay my lounge roof (a "warm" roof which has insulation within it), and one day to lay my garage roof. Guy works quickly and doesn't stop when it goes dark (winter) ... preferring to finish the job for the day before he stops. Although not important to the quality of the work, having someone who is pleasant, cheerful, talks authentically, is not only knowledgeable about his craft but communicates it well in layman's English is important when making a decision if a workman is someone to employ; KG Installations were the right people for me. So, now my roofs look excellent, are watertight, and makes a fantastic 'boing' sound when heavy rain falls :) Being a bit of a grouchy man who doesn't give away compliments lightly, I find it easy to give KG Installations high ratings. You get what you pay for, the quality of the work is excellent, and my new roofs will least for up to 40 years. It's nice to sleep at night knowing you made the right decision. 11th December, 2013/ Mr Richardson. Waterlooville.
