They came out and fixed my roof 2 days before closing $325 cheaper than the next company that demanded cash. Thankful for Terks
Great roofing company, asked for a job
Facts: I used them twice for small jobs because I believe in hiring smaller local businesses. I no little about roofing, like most people. I had them come and give me an estimate for a small flat roof replacement, which was $800 more than their estimate 3 years ago. I decided to go ahead. I called and spoke to the receptionist 3 times. She promised to call me back within the hour when the owner arrived. That was thee weeks ago. If they had examined my roof more carefully the last time I would have replaced it earlier. I think it is simply a professional courtesy to return a call, even if you don’t want the job or are too busy. This is how they treat returning customers. I would never recommend them.
My property was damaged due to a sloppy clean-up and phone calls regarding the damage are never returned. I will update this review if they ever right their wrong...
Whatever you do DO NOT use Terks Roofing. If possible, I would give them NEGATIVE STARS. A good reliable roofer in this area is Farrell roofing. In 2016, I had the misfortune of having a leak in a $10,000 roofing job done in 2011 that was a nightmare getting Terks to return to repair. We live in the Westwind model and is about 1850 ft.². Our original roof replacement in 2011 estimate was about $8500. Because the roof had two layers of shingles to be removed, we had a fair amount of rotted plywood. This added another $400 or $500 to the bill. It was then about $9000. Since the roof was opened while replacing the rotten plywood, they asked if we would want to install more insulation. We agreed and added $500 more to the cost. We also discovered we had bats in our chimney that caused rotting on the inside and down near their roof where it meets the chimney. This also added an additional $700 over and above just the roof cost. That is the background. Now the reason for my warning. We have roof solar panels to heat our hot water. When they reattached the existing solar panels to the roof (not the plumbing) on the area over the garage roof they missed the rafters and when they finally re-secured them correctly they neglected to seal the holes from the first attempt. Rain leaking in over five years and with the exceptionally heavy rain that we had this past spring and summer (2016) enough water came in over the garage and caused a 4 x 8 section of my garage ceiling sheetrock to collapse barely missing my car. After the garage ceiling area collapsed I was able to see a small round hole where I saw the sky. There were actually 4 but only could see 1. This is how I discovered that they had originally failed to secure the solar panels back correctly. I had a leak in my roof over the garage for five years. After almost 10 unreturned phone calls (leaving answering machine messages) attempting to get them to come and repair the damage It took a letter to the Better Business Bureau. Within three or four days of my writing the letter they came out to the house and repaired the roof but not the inside garage ceiling. Brian, who owns Terks Roofing said that if I would write to the Better Business Bureau and report that I was happy with the roof repair he would fix and replace the damaged garage ceiling. I agreed, and did exactly what he asked. This was in September. But by December, after my inquiring once a month asking when the repair would be done, I was given a whole series of what you could call just plain BS. Brian also said he was afraid of me because "threatened him" with loud yelling. I was 82 at the time and am no threat to anyone. I finally gave up. I used an excellent local repairman living in Fairway Springs who has done work for me in the past. He did the garage ceiling for $200. I wrote a new complaint to the Better Business Bureau and have asked if possible to have Terks roofing reimburse me. I imagine this will probably never happen (It DIDN’T) but I have the satisfaction of warning folks do not ever use this company. Also, after the job was completed 5 years ago, my lawn guy suffered two flats on his lawn tractor due to nails left on the ground carelessly. Terks was called and came back and using magnets they picked up over 2 pounds of nails. As far as ever using Terk’s Roofing, DON’T! They are bad news. Brian and Terks Roofing are to to be trusted.
